Riyadh Drought Resilience Partnership: Inaugural Conference

Join us for the Inaugural Conference of the Riyadh Drought Resilience Partnership (RDRP), taking place in Cologne, Germany on 23–24 June 2025. This high-level event will bring together global stakeholders to shape the future of drought preparedness and resilience.

The RDRP was launched at UNCCD COP16 to help countries move from reactive drought responses to proactive strategies through early warning systems, sustainable farming, financial tools, and improved water management.

At the conference, key objectives include:

• The validation of the governance framework, objectives, and strategic plan of the Riyadh Partnership for Drought Resilience.
• The engagement of key stakeholders across sectors to ensure alignment with regional and global priorities and initiatives such as the International Drought Resilience Alliance (IDRA).
• The identification of key areas for collaboration and resource mobilisation for Drought Resilience projects and initiatives.
• Announce and agree on the Steering Committee members and outline their roles and responsibilities.
• Establish a roadmap for implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of the Partnership by COP17.

Expected outcomes:

• Consensus on the partnership’s governance framework and strategic direction
• Endorsement of the governance modalities and bodies, including the Steering Committee
• Increased stakeholder engagement reflected in formal endorsements, participation in implementation plans, and contributions to joint initiatives.
• Agreed-upon implementation plan with clear coordination mechanisms, monitoring tools, and
  reporting timelines aligned with COP17 goals.

This event marks a critical step in building long-term, financially resilient responses to drought worldwide.
